Most people may not be aware of this but changes have been made a couple years back and now you can also take GRE to apply to B-Schools. Earlier students had no option but to take GMAT, in 2013 changes were made and applicants could also send in their GRE scores instead of being limited to GMAT scores.
But the real question is, which test is better? GRE or GMAT?
Advantages of GRE: In a nutshell, GRE is easier than GMAT, it is also less expensive. But the most important advantage is that if the student changes his/her mind about MBA then they can readily use GRE score for applying to other universities. Also, the universal acceptability of GRE makes it preferable over GMAT.
Disadvantages of GRE: It is more Vocabulary centric, that is more emphasis is laid on it. Also, it has 2 times essays.
What we do not yet know is how schools weigh GRE and GMAT scores. So my advice to you is to first check the schools you applying to, if they accept GRE scores. Also, take mock tests and if you score better in one then go for that test.
